Mind The Gap

John Burnside’s fascinating cross-cultural essay on reading American poetry, from Poetry Review. I’m glad to see this is now online (thanks to Frank Wilson for spotting it). Also good to see Burnside's appreciation of the excellent Robert Wrigley .

Thanks for linking to this essay, which is superb. I've just ordered collections by both Brigit Pegeen Kelly and Robert hrigley on the strength of what I've read here.

I've got to stop finding new poets to like.

I printed it out. Looks very interesting. I read the beginning and already sympathize with both sides, being a Graham detractor....

It is a very fine essay.
