Award with a Difference

This award gaffe is agonizing to watch, especially as the guy has made his way almost to the awards podium. Awful! In the end, nice to see a poet, Dannie Abse, winning the award, even if it’s for a prose memoir, but that must have been so embarrassing...

Amazingly, the Scottish Arts Council Book Award was also won by a poet, Edwin Morgan (with a poetry collection this time!) and the prize for Best First Book was won by Jane McKie for her debut collection on Cinnamon Press. Good to see poetry winning over the other genres.

Not as embarrassing as the Male Model of the Year fiasco in 2001.

I must have missed that one. I was in Turin at the time.

Hmmm, you know I did see that movie, but I guess it must have meant a lot more to you than it did to me!

funnily enough jackson, i saw that comedy classic two months ago, and though my colleague watching thought it was crap, i loved it, as it took the cliche of Fashion to the logically illogica extreme and it was daft as a brush, but very funny, appealing to the child in us, which is the space in which the imagination is all free play...and i was picturing yr ganes of snap in middle abbey street and it sounds grim...i was lucky, i was in the iveagh homelss hostel for the first 18 months and it was perfect, as it meant i had a dual life...lit and dossing, and if yr ever in dublin, i can put you up in an atttic gaffe, and stay in the flat downstairs, as i am just a poetry nut and the gag for me is seeing ppl's faces buzz by offering a normal habd of wisdom through friendship, philosophy, arh, yeah jackson, any time you want a place to crash for a few days, free accomodation here, no strings, just love and peace
