Not Blogging

It’s been fun not blogging over the last week, so I’ve decided to take this week off too. It makes me wonder (not for the first time) whether I really want to blog at all, but this doesn't seem like a good way to end! I’ll start again next week, probably on Monday. This post is just to save people coming here to find out if I’ve updated.

Perhaps what you need to do is refocus your blog. The first thing I'd do is redesign your page. A fresh layout will make the site feel new, like slapping on a coat of paint to freshen up a room. Then, sit down and make a list of what you want to blog about. So many blogs I start to subscribe to because I read an interesting post can't maintain my interest because they drift off topic. Lastly, don't post too much. I post twice a week, sometimes three times, but that's it. I have a stockpile of posts so that I never feel under any pressure simply to get something out there.

Hope some of this helps.

That's great advice Jim, but I'd say that one of the reasons I come here is the variety, as well as the poetry topics bubbling away in it.

See you soon, Rob!

From a purely selfish point of view, Rob, I'd say keep blogging because I enjoy it so much, and also because your blog is a great gateway to all sorts of other poetry sites.
From your own point of view, it's worth doing simply to keep your name out there. I've gone through long periods where my blog has had no appreciable effect, then I get a couple of weeks like I've just had, where I've had a little flurry of book orders and an invitation to contribute to a book because of it.
