Just watched this. Chris McCabe got about 5 seconds during the feature about Oxford. Chris Hamilton-Emery spoke for about 10-15 seconds about 'Just One Book', slipped into a feature on Clare Pollard's forthcoming Bloodaxe anthology of young poets.

But did you spot copies of 'The Ambulance Box' and 'The Opposite of Cabbage' flashing across the screen for...oh...at least 3 seconds? I can now say, honestly, that the book has appeared on the BBC.

Strange programme though.

Filling the screen!

Strange as it may have been in places, it was great to have an edition of Newsnight Review dedicated to poetry. And I thought Armitage spoke a lot of good sense, too.

Yes, I thought SA was really good. And congrats you two on some free national advertising!

Well, SA certainly showed plenty of courage. On a panel of 4, which included a hip-hop artist and performance poet, SA said that he gave his students song lyrics to illustrate how not to write poetry, that poems shouldn't require performance (as opposed to being simply read), and that those which did were effectively more about the poet than the poem.

Yes. The hip-hop artist came across really well too, though. I don't think he quite understood Armitage's point about song lyrics (and it wasn't just any old lyrics, but Dylan) but SA didn't push it, having made his point clearly and well.

Yes, I liked the hip-hop guy.
