It’s my birthday. I got clothes from my wife. She is much better at choosing what I wear than I am, so I’m grateful. My daughter got me a double CD of punk rock originals – the Adverts, the Only Ones, John Cooper Clarke, the Members, along with all the usual suspects. I guess when children start giving you music from 30 years ago, it means you’re old.

Happy Birthday. My son Miles has been listening to a bunch of mix CDs I gave him, and at present his favorite song is "London Calling"! Wow, and that is almost 30 years old now, right?
The first Clash tune he picked up on, though, was "Clampdown."
Thanks everyone. I've had to work for most of today, and to go with my daughter to what will soon be her school to meet the Primary 1 teacher.
Hy daughter has impeccable taste. Currently her favourite album is 'Pet Sounds' by the Beach Boys. When she was a baby she liked to be rocked to sleep by Tom Waits albums.
Unfortunately, she doesn't discriminate much - she goes to dancing lessons on a Saturday and likes Shakira, Bob the Builder, and that annoying song that goes 'McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut.'
